National Electrical Code® Facts
Because electricity powers so much of our world today, it is vital that electrical-safety requirements include the latest proven protections. The National Electrical Code® (NEC®) provides the latest and most extensive requirements to protect against potential electrical hazards.
According to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), the NEC® has served as the basis of electrical safety in the United States and throughout the world for more than 100 years. Since 1911, the NEC® has been part of the National Fire Codes® series published by the NFPA. Every three years, NFPA revises the NEC® to incorporate the latest developments in technology and safety.
